About Us

The Hong Kong Committee on Children’s rights (HKCCR) was formed in 1992, originating from a concerned group about children being left unattended. We registered as an independent non-governmental organization with charitable status in 1995. Membership of the Committee is made up of a wide range of professionals interested in the rights of children. We concern about the needs of children, and their rights to survival, protection, development and participation, which are the 4 main areas of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

Our Chief Objectives

  • Promote, advance and ensure the rights of the child in Hong Kong
  • Develop and continuously update an agenda for the rights of the child in Hong Kong including the adoption of a child policy, a comprehensive Child Ordinance and the establishment of an independent Child Commission
  • Monitor the implementation of the UNCRC in Hong Kong
  • Communicate and cooperate with local and international organizations on children’s rights

How to get to the HKCCR office?

1. You may take the MTR to Sai Ying Pun Station and reach Second Street via Exit B2. Approach the crossroads with Western Street and then turn left. Walk up the ramp and you would see a 3-storey red brick heritage building on the left, which is the Western District Community Centre. We are on the 3rd floor.

2. You may take bus No. 1, 5B, 10, 101, 905 and get off at the stop near Western Street or Centre Street. Follow the map below to go to Western District Community Centre. We are on the 3rd floor.

3. You may take bus No. 968 from Yuen Long and get off at the first stop after crossing the Western Harbour Tunnel. Then, interchange those buses which pass by Western Street, including No. 1, 5B, 10, 101... etc. Please get off at Western District Police Station and walk uphill along Western Street. You will find a 3-storey red brick heritage building on the left, which is the Western District Community Centre. We are on the 3rd floor.
